our benefice
The Benefice of Wormingford and Mount Bures with Little Horkesley comprises three villages in the Stour Valley of North Essex with spectacular views of Suffolk.
We are part of the Church of England in the Diocese of Chelmsford. We are grouped as a Benefice, which means we have one Vicar, but each Village in the Benefice has its own Church and is governed by its own Parochial Church Council (PCC).
The other Churches in the Benefice are:
St. Andrew's, Wormingford
St. John the Baptist, Mount Bures
We are also part of the North Colchester Family of Churches, linked with Great Horkesley, West Bergholt, Langham and Boxted, Myland and St. Luke's, Highwoods. We help one another out in various ways; their leaders sometimes visit us to lead services, and there are opportunities for us to work together.
Little Horkesley Parish Church Council is a charity, but is excepted from registration with Charity Commission. The church is within the Church of England Diocese of Chelmsford. The Chelmsford Diocesan Board of Finance is a Registered Charity no. 240505.
